Septimo dia

Hola Amigos,

Yesterday we left beautiful Puebla to come to our final stop, Oaxaca, behind the Sierra Madre Mountains. The trip was long but interesting, looking to a more dry landscape than in the state of Puebla. We are now at the Misiones Hotel, in Oaxaca City, enjoying at the sunny afternoon at the swimming pool after visiting the Zapotec archaeological site of Monte Alban.

See you tomorrow, our final day in Mexico.

Quinto Dia

Hi Folks,

Wow have we been lucky! We got to see both volcanos on a very clear day and experience a Baptisim parade complete with Mariachis and children dressed like brides. We saw folk dancing in Puebla and our hotel is right on the main plaza where something is happening constanly. The kids have been great. Tomorrow we are off to Oaxaca!!

Best to all -

Tercer Día

In our quest to experience all that is Mexico, many of us decided to try our hand at wrestling. Before we could begin wrestling, we hand to transform ourselves into great “luchadores.” For this each person had to find the right mask for his personality and wrestling style. Here is a video of one of our matches!

¡Segundo dia!

Hola, buenas noches. ¡Estamos en Puebla!

Today we left Mexico’s city and we went to Cholula. We visited a museum, we went through a Pyramid, saw ruins and we climbed a small pyramid.

We had lunch in a beautiful restaurant in Puebla.

In the afternoon we went to the Parian, a typical Mexican market and we did a lot of shopping. The best part was that everybody "regateamos" (bargained) and we got a bunch of great deals. Here are some pictures. Enjoy!

Hasta mañana,

Maria

¡Hola, Desde México!

We've had a terrific day and a half in Mexico City! Certainly one of the highlights of Wednesday was a late afternoon stroll in the city center, which featured the fascinating ruins of ancient Tenochtitlan as well as the impressive Baroque cathedral that lies atop. Today we spent the morning climbing the pyramids of Teotihuacán and learning more than we thought possible about ancient astronomy. The highlight of the afternoon was a leisurely boat trip through the Xochimilco gardens, where we had the opportunity to put our bartering skills to good use. The weather has been sensational--sunny and warm; your children have been incredibly patient, interested, excited, and expressive in Spanish (many compliments from the folks we've met). We'll send more news and pictures soon.
